2011-07-25

The tvn24.pl server resumed normal serving of the news. X24 downloads and display the news again. No software update is neccessary.

2011-07-18

Problems reported on July 15 have their source on the server side (tvn24.pl). The original Windows application, downloaded from tvn24.pl, doesn't show any messages either (it keeps displaying a message "There are no news at the moment..."). We'll keep monitoring this issue.

Users report problems while contacting the tvn24.pl site to retrieve news. The issue is being investigated. Look out for an application update soon.

2008-11-10

X24 v. 1.2 released. This version handles urgent news better and has some minor performance optimizations.

X24 v. 1.1 released. This is a maintenance release, caused by the changes in the protocol introduced by tvn24. The new version conforms to the current protocol and news format, and the message cathegories have been updated to reflect the latest changes.

WHAT IS X24

X24 is a Mac OS X application, displaying the current news from the Polish TVN24 broadcast station. The news are displayed in form of scrolling text on a floating bar. A MS Windows equivalent is available for download free of charge from the tvn24.pl web portal. X24 requires an Internet connection.

CURRENT NEWS ON YOUR DESKTOP

Keep up to date with the most recent news from TVN24. X24 downloads updated information periodically, without the user intervention. The news are being scrolled across your desktop, each information preceded by its cathegory (local, worldwide, urgent etc.). If you need the whole desktop, just click the minimize button and the bar folds itself to take as little space as possible.

The news are available in Polish only.

FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE

You can easily change the location of the bar. There are three predefined locations:

the top of the desktop (but below the menu bar),
the bottom of the desktop (but above the dock),
the bottom of the desktop, eventually overlapping with the dock.

The color, opacity, size and scrolling speed can also be adjusted to suit your taste. Optionally you can make X24 to be launched automatically at every logon.
